As a result, Findmypast’s vast collection of US, UK, and Irish data has been connected with RootsMagic software, allowing customers to automatically search more than 8 billion historical records.
Names and dates stored in RootsMagic trees will be matched against Findmypast’s databases to directly link customers to relevant records, enabling them to easily expand their research and open up new lines of discovery. Once a potential match has been identified, customers will be notified by a RootsMagic WebHint™ which will direct the user to the Findmypast website.
Automatic record matching is already a popular feature of Findmypast’s Family Tree builder and has made the process of finding historical records for ancestors considerably quicker and easier. Their tree software automatically sifts through billions of birth, baptism, marriage, divorce, death, burial, and census records to provide researchers with new clues, information, and even potential new relatives through a series of on screen icons known as “leads”.
Findmypast’s heritage and rich record collections coupled with RootsMagic’s sophisticated technology will make for a powerful combination, providing customers with new and improved ways of unlocking the fascinating stories within their family. Automatic record matching is already a popular feature of Findmypast’s online family tree and has made the process of finding historical records for ancestors considerably quicker and easier.

“One of the most exciting new features of RootsMagic 7 is our amazing WebHints and we are excited to add Findmypast’s tremendous library of UK, Irish, and US data in our latest update. With more than 1000 exclusive collections and new additions released every week, Findmypast has records that you just won’t find anywhere else. Personally, almost all of my ancestral lines go back to England and Scotland. So Findmypast’s 1 billion records from the British Isles are especially valuable to me. Having access to these fantastic records from inside of RootsMagic opens up a whole new world of research for our customers.”
The announcement marks the latest step in Findmypast’s drive to put innovation at the center of its business and follows on from the announcement of a raft of global partnerships with leading technology providers, such as Family Historian, Twile and Puzzilla and many others designed to offer customers an easy and engaging family history experience.
