Quaker Birth, Marriage & Death Registers 1578 – 1837

Ancestry.co.uk have added Quaker Birth, Marriage & Death Registers for the period 1578 – 1837 to its collection.

The Society of Friends (Quakers) kept records from their earliest days and to comply with the Non-Parochial Register Act of 1840, Quaker registers of births, marriages, and burials prior to 30 June 1837 were turned over to the Registrar General in London. This collection includes the registers and certificates that were surrendered to the Registrar General.

Quakers recorded births, marriages, deaths, and burials, as well as some other events at Monthly and Quarterly Meetings. These events have been indexed in this database and can be searched by name, parents’ names (where applicable), location, and event date. Images can also be browsed by county and Meeting.

The records can be search here.
