Amazing what can turn up in the National Archives

The National Archives contains a wealth of information of use to Family Historians from Births, Marriages & Deaths, Military Records, Occupation Records, Personal Papers through to Wills & Probates, the National Archives will point you towards these records are stored, some will be at Kew others at local archives around England. If you have never used the National Archives there are guides and Tutorials on the site to help you.

As an example, whilst researching a number of my own ancestors on National Archives website, I came across information which I hadn’t seen previously, it would appear that one ancestor owned or part owned a Manor House in the East Midlands, but lost it for some legal reason. Another ancestor lived and worked in India in the 1600’s and there is a document suggesting royal links. These papers are held at Birmingham Archives so a trip to Birmingham will be needed to find out more.
